The SOOS Symposium is a major international meeting for the Southern Ocean community, providing a forum to share knowledge, strengthen connections, and advance collaboration and coordination around Southern Ocean science.

In 2023, SOOS hosted its inaugural SOOS Symposium, SOOS Symposium 2023, the first large international conference of SOOS. Following its success, the SOOS Symposium returns in 2027, with the SOOS Symposium 2027. taking place in Naples, Italy, from 6–10 September 2027.
