Bids now open: Host the SOOS Symposium 2027!

SOOS is inviting bids from institutes and organisations interested in hosting the SOOS Symposium 2027.

Following the success of the inaugural SOOS Symposium in 2023, the next symposium will bring together 400–500 participants from across the international Southern Ocean community, including researchers, industry, policy-makers, and operational stakeholders.

The symposium will provide a major forum to advance collaboration and coordination around Southern Ocean observations and contribute to international initiatives including SYNCHRONY, Antarctica InSync, the UN Decade of Ocean Science, the UN Decade of Cryospheric Sciences, and preparations for the International Polar Year 2032–33.

Bids are due by 31 July 2026.
