New Datasets

South African Glider Data

Glider data collected by Seb Swart’s team at CSIR, in South Africa, is now available for the first time from the National Centers for Environmental Information. Dr Swart and his colleagues released two SeaGliders near Gough Island in the Southern Ocean in 2012, collecting water temperature and salinity data over the next five months. This is just the start, so keep an eye on the SOOS metadata portal ( as new metadata records are starting to flow in from around the world. In coming weeks we hope to share thousands of Australian and US metadata records, along with hundreds of records from researchers in China, Italy, and other countries, so plenty more similar datasets and metadata records are coming soon!
